About us
Russia is launching the RUSSIAN HISTORY Olympiad for Foreign Citizens this year, which is a huge brain-game event to bring together people from various countries, who are in love with Russia’s Language, History and Culture.
The Olympiad is to celebrate the crucial role that the USSR played in defeating fascism during World War II. The participants joining the event will have a chance to explore the military strategies employed by the Soviet Union, including the major military operations and tactics, as well as to analyze the USSR’s diplomatic incentives matching these vs the ones pursued by the Allies.
From October 6, 2025 until November 26, 2025, over 1,000 participants will be discussing the most important events pertaining to the said period. The rounds have been designed in various formats – quizzes, history quests, etc.
Just join this unique contest, put your knowledge to a test, improve your Russian and just show what you are up to – all this while enjoying this tough yet friendly battle of brains!
How to join?
We welcome both teams and individual contestants.
Team all-around:
I. Assemble a team: 5 persons aged 16-30. To be eligible, the participants must reside beyond Russia and have no Russian nationality. II. Get yourself a mentor: We recommend mentors to be someone experienced, ready to accompany the team and support it all the way through the event. III. Complete registration: Fill out the team application form within the deadline.

Training seminars for the mentors
The program includes 3 webinars where the mentors will get to know the structure and the specifics of the Olympiad, as well as they will be introduced into the types of tasks and the special issues within different formats. These webinars have been designed to help the participants prepare better for the event.

Here each contestant will have to take an individual test, which, if completed successfully, will mean advance to the next round.

Cinema analysis (identification of historical accuracy by movie scenes)
Work with award papers (identification of the link between the act of heroism and the respective award)

Round II
Comparative analysis of the strategies employed by the Allies and by the Wehrmacht
Identification based on memoir certificates
Cryptanalysis of military reports.

Semifinals
The Semifinals will bring around 4 teams and 5 individuals. This round is to be held similar to the Jeopardy TV-show format, and will include 4 theme-based sections: Military Commanders (Zhukov, Rokossovsky, Konev); Turning Points (Battle of Moscow, Battle of Stalingrad); Homefront (evacuation of industry); Anti-fascist resistance (partisan movement)

This third-place playoff includes four options, which involve five tasks of different format and complexity degree.
